Hong Kong–based artist Hung Fai explores the legacy of ‘shanshui’ – traditional Chinese landscape painting – in two new works from his series, ‘The Six Principles of Chinese Painting – Transmission’, on view at White Cube Bermondsey.
Enacting a generational transfer of heritage, the artist traces and re-traces a mountain form painted by his father, the esteemed ink painter Hung Hoi, through soaked layers of rice paper.
View Hung Fai’s work in ‘Alien Shores: Landscape once removed’ at White Cube Bermondsey until 7 September 2025.
