Artists Kei Imazu and Bagus Pandega add the final touches to their kinetic installation ‘Artificial Green by Nature Green 4.1’ (2025)
This work, which is part of the group exhibition ‘Alien Shores: landscape, once removed’ at White Cube Bermondsey, mourns the ongoing transformation of Indonesia’s tropical rainforests into monoculture estates.
Making use of a delicate electrical signal from a living oil palm, a metaphor for an extractive industry, a machine is programmed to paint, and then erase, a landscape image derived from Dutch colonial engravings.
Visit the exhibition from 9 July – 7 September 2025
