Closing Soon: Alex Carver ‘Effigy’ at White Cube Seoul
‘Effigy’, Alex Carver’s first exhibition in Asia, features two new series of paintings.
The first, referred to by the artist as the ‘Inferno’ paintings, draws inspiration from Alighieri’s 14th-century epic, ‘The Divine Comedy’, alongside other art-historical sources, including Medieval manuscripts and Old Masters paintings.
The second series is what the artist calls the ‘Landscape’ paintings. Notably purged of obvious human presence, these atmospheric works reaffirm Alex’s exploration of pervasive biopolitical and social violence.
⏳ Don’t miss your last chance to visit the exhibition, on view at White Cube Seoul until 14 June 2025.
