In Ilana Savdie’s new body of work at White Cube New York, the artist draws upon the tactics of survival in various organisms that rely on performance and trickery. Across ten canvases, shape-shifting configurations unfurl orifices, entrails and other bodily fragments. Through a juxtaposition of abstraction and realistic elements, the artist tends to a proliferation of false realities, identities and narratives that contradict one other.
