Robert Irwin: ‘The one true inquiry of art as a pure subject is an inquiry of our potential to know the world around us and our actively being in it.’
Irwin’s immersive site-specific installations delicately choreograph the light and dimensions of space. The late artist considered perception the fundamental subject of art and sought to dismantle the boundaries between art and its environment.
At White Cube Paris, 8 wall-based fluorescent sculptures cast reflections and shadows across the gallery, while the large-scale sculpture freestanding, ‘Untitled’ (2021) shifts depending on the viewer’s position.
📍 The exhibition is on view at White Cube Paris until 19 July 2025.
