White Cube announces a collaboration with Cai Guo-Qiang, including the presentation of key works at Art Basel and a major solo exhibition at Bermondsey. The exhibition at White Cube Bermondsey (opening 25 September 2025) coincides with Frieze London and marks Cai’s first project in the city for over 20 years, following his iconic explosion event at Tate Modern in 2003 (slide 3). Featuring a selection of his signature gunpowder paintings created over the past decade, the show highlights the artist’s radical exploration of the material, in which he ignites explosives directly onto various substrates such as paper, canvas, glass and mirror.
