We asked some of our photographers why it’s important to them that their photos are printed in Trails, or anywhere else. Take a moment to read longtime Trails contributor, lapescadora’s response. ”I have worked as a professional photographer now for many years, and in that time the bulk of my work has been used for outdoor brands for their social media use. Although this work pays the bills and brings me great joy to create, the imagery has a short shelf life; it is seen by individuals for a split second as they scroll on their screens and becomes essentially irrelevant in less than 24 hours. And that is where the beauty of print comes in; I want my work to be tangible and tear-able, for the viewer to gaze upon it slowly and softly or crumple it up if they feel so inclined. I want it to live in this 3-dimensional world - whether that be fuel for your campfire or adornment on your coffee table, although I’d prefer the latter.
