Want to climb a mountain?!
Confidently managing your hygiene in the mountains is essential for safety, comfort, and staying connected to the environment. Yet while we train relentlessly with ropes, crampons, and rescue systems, hygiene is often overlooked—despite being one of the most common sources of discomfort or stress on a trip.
This class covers best practices for backcountry hygiene—peeing, pooping, periods, and personal care—through the lens of alpine climbing. Taught by Anastasia Allison, mountaineer, founder of Kula Cloth and former park ranger, this session also explores how to approach these conversations with teammates and foster inclusive, prepared rope teams. Whether you’re heading into the Cascades or onto a glacier, these tools are just as important as your ice axe.
