Happy World Curlew Day, one and all! Who doesn't love a Curlew? Did you know they're the UK's largest wader? Sadly they're also in decline and have been since the 80s. This can be turned around though. Over in Northern Ireland, we've been working with local farmers through the Curlew LIFE Project. From creating suitable Curlew habitat to nest protection, the work has seen 95% of eggs hatch — up from 22% in 2020. Today we've joined forces with charities, farmers and scientists to launch the UK-wide Action Plan for Curlews, which details what must be done to save Curlews from extinction.
