One easy thing you can do today to advance abortion access? Memorize the names of safe abortion medications! Mifepristone & misoprostol (or mife + miso for short!) are the two medicines used in an abortion with pills. If available, mife is usually taken first. If you get confused, just remember that “F” comes before “S” in the alphabet, so miFe comes before miSo. :-)
TL;DR: Mifepristone blocks progesterone, which is needed for a pregnancy to grow. Misoprostol causes the uterus to contract and empty, similar to a miscarriage. It leads to cramping and bleeding, which helps remove the pregnancy tissue from the uterus.
