Ever used crushed stone in your studio? You probably have. Marble dust, powdered calcium carbonate from real marble, has been in artists’ materials for centuries. It stiffens oil paint, adds texture to gesso, strengthens pastels, and even brightens acid-free paper.
You’ll find it in modeling pastes, student paints, and sometimes… the paper itself.
