You might see some new logos on your box of Philadelphia Cream Cheese thanks to some major changes in the business world. A decade after they joined in a massive merger that created one of the biggest food conglomerates on the planet, Kraft-Heinz is splitting into two companies.
One company, currently called Global Taste Elevation Co., will include shelf-stable meals and the Heinz brand, as well as Philadelphia Cream Cheese and Kraft Mac & Cheese. The other company, currently called North American Grocery Co., will include Oscar Mayer, Kraft Singles and Lunchables. The two companies will receive more exciting names in the future.
Sometimes thought of as a local product, Philadelphia Cream Cheese actually originated in New York State, with branding that brought Pennsylvania's top-tier dairies to the consumer's mind. It was actually one of the first branded food products in the U.S.
