Catching a marlin off Oregon’s coast is a story most anglers only dream about. Odds are, you’ve never met anybody who knows anybody who has ever caught one in Oregon’s ocean waters. It’s rarer than hen’s teeth. It’s equivalent to winning the lottery or getting a full house while playing solitaire. Most Oregon anglers will go their whole lives without a single bite. But on Saturday, Watkins, his sons Parker, 24, and Preston, 20, and family friend Brett Stone, 21, all got struck by lightning — and together they reeled in a 160.5-pound, 9-foot-2-inch striped marlin.
