In Bombay, my family traded in fabrics for many years until the 1960s’, when my grandfather, entered Bombay and Jaipur’s bustling gem trade at a time when the city was a true crossroads. Colombian emeralds and Burmese rubies passed through its docks, cut, sorted, and shipped to the world.
