Two years ago, if you had mentioned the word ‘pilgrimage’ I would have likely given you a blank stare. I’d never gone on any type of trip connected to my faith before doing a part of the Camino de Santiago last year then Mexico City to see Our Lady of Guadalupe. Yes, it’s true, as (about to be Saint) Carlo Acutis reminds us, that you can encounter Jesus in your backyard through the Eucharist, in all the tabernacles of the world. But there is something encouraging, something that fortifies the soul, something that sets sights higher, to go on a pilgrimage and walk in the footsteps of the saints.
Saint Clement said, “Follow the saints, because those who follow them will become saints.”
