#BlackHistoryMonth fitness spotlight is Tommie Smith —former track & field athlete and wide receiver who was the first to break the 20-second barrier in the 200-meter sprint.

Atop the medal podium at 1968 Olympic Games, Tommie Smith and John Carlos, each raised a black-gloved fist during the playing of the US national anthem in support of racial equality. The enclosed fist remains a symbolic moment in the history of the Black Power movement.
