The West Highland Way Diaries: Day 2
On this day we summited Conic Hill, offering stunning views of Loch Lomond and the Highland Boundary Fault, a key of islands marking the official start of the Scottish Mountains.
Conic Hill was buggy and sunny, but well worth the detour to summit it. Our descent wove through a rich coniferous forest with lively greenery and much needed shade.
With a quick snack at Balmaha (the Bahamas iykyk), we were well on our way to our campsite at Sallochy. This section of the hike was just a taste of what was to come the next day as we fought for our lives on Loch Lomond, but more on that later.
We celebrated another day crushed with a swim in the loch before Kallie read us some tales from her Scottish Folklore book.
That night a meteor shower danced across the skies, and we slept like wee bairns. π
