On August 11, “four informed American girls with their very large rucksacks” set out to do what hundreds of thousands have done before: walk the West Highland Way. Day 1 was that of typical Scottish Climate - doozy, gloomy, and just a wee bit humid. We wandered 14 miles this day, stopping once at a beer garden/petting zoo/general store. We saw our first coos (though, not highland) and shopped at our first honesty box. Our day (almost) concluded with the worst pizza I’ve ever had at a lovely inn in Drymen and tr.peterson can attest that I cut in a really fun way. After dinner, and despite our feet already screaming at us, we wandered a few miles north of town where we camped in the Garadhban Forest.
