On
#internationalwomensday, I want to honor one of the
#TX30 women on whose shoulders we stand: the late, great, Eddie Bernice Johnson.
My predecessor was the first Registered Nurse elected to Congress, a champion for mental health care and equal rights for all.
EBJ delivered huge investments for North Texas in her 30 years in Congress, from expansion and modernization of DART to revitalization of downtown Dallas.
As Chair of housescience, she was a champion of the Chips and Science Act, which has delivered thousands of jobs in TX.
She was a trailblazer, a glass ceiling breaker, and an inspiration for young Texas women like me tired of being told to wait our turn. I’m blessed to have had her as a friend and mentor, and honored to help carry on her legacy.
Today, be like EBJ 💪🏾
