As we reflect on Martin Luther King Jr. Day today, we’re thinking about his legacy, his dream, and ways we can actively participate in dismantling the social structures that cause inequity. We believe that justice is rooted in generosity, love, and power. As Dr. King warned us, "Power without love is reckless and abusive, and love without power is sentimental and anemic. Power at its best is love implementing the demands of justice, and justice at its best is power correcting everything that stands against love." We can both reach out to those at risk of falling through the cracks and ask ourselves why anyone is so perilously close to the cracks at all.
