We are extremely proud of several of our participants who have successfully graduated as caregivers. For these graduates, it's a way for them to build self-reliance in the future (as caregiving is a skill that is in high demand in the US and Canada - countries where refugees have the greatest likelihood of being resettled) and a way to contribute to the community.
During the pandemic, caregiving skills could have significantly eased the workload of medical professionals around the city, but because refugees are generally not allowed to work, our city missed out on this opportunity to benefit from individuals like Alice*.
Given the chance, refugees will continue to contribute to a stronger, safer, and more vibrant world. We're committed to building a better Hong Kong that recognises and welcomes the diverse gifts that refugees bring to our city.
