I-55 has become a route for tens of thousands of abortion seekers leaving restricted states in order to access care in Illinois, which is now the southernmost point of legal access for much of the South. This highway is covered with shaming, gruesome anti-choice billboards—because logistical and financial struggle is tough, but the project wouldn’t be complete without some psychological torture in the mix. We hate this so we put up six billboards with explicitly pro-abortion messages along the highway, as well as a bunch of digital ads in convenience stores, intended to be a beacon of support and affirmation for people making the journey.
