It’s #NationalKittenDay! Celebrating today with some of our favorites including this photo of Hazel Scott, a Trinidadian jazz and classical pianist and vocalist, and her cat. Throughout time and history, our animal companions have filled our lives with love, friendship, and their mischievous antics. This photo comes from the Johnson Publishing Company Archive, one of the most comprehensive records of Black culture in the 20th century which is currently being digitized and archived by Getty and Smithsonian's National Museum of African American History and Culture. 📸: Hazel Scott playing with cat in New York City, March 1960.
