British photographer Julia Margaret Cameron began her photography practice at the age of 48.
She became known as one of the greatest portrait photographers of the 19th century because of her figurative portraits, taken at her studio on the Isle of Wight.
She enlisted everyone around her as models, from family members to domestic servants and local residents.
Her compositions frequently drew inspiration from Italian Renaissance painters including Raphael, Giotto, and Michelangelo.
