We're delighted to announce that LA-based choreographers micaelagtaylor movementartivist chrisemile will present original dance films in the exhibition "Poussin and the Dance," inspired by the 17th-century artist's works. As the choreographers looked at Poussin's works, each found ways to dig into the paintings' worlds, pulling out details, expressions, and textures, as well as perspectives about how the visual story was formed in a way that only someone with intimate knowledge of the physical experience of dance and its capacity for expression could uncover. On view February 15–May 8, 2022, the exhibition will show a selection of Poussin's paintings and drawings alongside the antiquities that inspired him and place these objects in dialogue with contemporary dance.
