Do you think Brutalism is ugly? Ton, our resident modern architecture lover, wants to share a different perspective. Is raw concrete cold, or is it *cool*? The name Brutalism comes from the French "‘Béton brut" meaning raw concrete. Many buildings made in the post-World War II period use concrete. Cities had to rebuild quickly, but innovation was born from necessity. Have you thought about raw concrete buildings this way before? Tell us how you feel about them in the comments. _ Getty works to conserve modern architecture around the world. This July we're highlighting modern architecture. Journey through buildings, cities, zoos, and more! #gettymodernarchitecture 🏷: #brutalism #modernarchitecture #concrete #architecture
