Have you ever seen a concert at The Roxy? In 1973, Ed Ruscha documented Sunset Boulevard. By coincidence, this was the year the historic music venue opened. The Roxy was established by Lou Adler and Elmer Valentine (with help from David Geffen, Elliot Roberts, and Peter Asher) with the goal of creating “a state of the art venue where artists of all musical genres felt at home.” Throughout its five-decade history, the venue hosted a variety of acts ranging from the Temptations to the Sex Pistols, from Bob Marley to Patti Smith, and from Prince to Aretha Franklin. Swipe for more scenes of The Roxy from the 70s, 80s, 90s, and 2000s. Visit our #LinkInBio to explore more of Sunset Boulevard’s history and Ed Ruscha’s archive. #12sunsets
