Ain’t no monkey business. Wildlife trafficking is a serious issue threatening a variety of species around the world - like the capuchin monkey. Like many monkeys, capuchins are often trapped, stolen from their families, and sold as pets. Though very intelligent and charismatic, they do not make good pets. Capuchin monkeys soak their hands and feet in urine to scent mark their territory. They also require special diets and complex social structures in order to thrive and, if not taken care of properly, can have shortened lifespans. San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance works with government agencies to raise awareness about wildlife trafficking and has a history of offering sanctuary to exotic animals needing care and protection. #CapuchinMonkey #PetTradeAwareness #SanDiegoZoo
