Eyes of the forest. 🐅 Today, there are just 600 Sumatran tigers remaining in native habitats after years of illegal poaching and deforestation. But there is still hope for these majestic big cats. San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance has teamed with Way Kambas National Park in Sumatra, Indonesia, a major habitat for Sumatran tigers Panthera tigris sumatrae. We are funding studies to determine the number and distribution of these critically endangered big cats. SDZWA’s long-term conservation project in Sumatra allows us to better understand how this critically endangered species uses its habitat, driving critical and sustainable conservation plans.
