Suns out, osteoderms out ☀️ Komodo dragons have osteoderms, meaning they have small bones embedded in their skin. Underneath their scales, they have a chainmail-like armor of tiny bones that are thought to protect them from their biggest natural threat - other komodos. Osteoderms are found in many lizard and amphibian species like crocodilians and frogs as well as extinct dinosaur species.
