Painted terrapins get their name from their artistic approach to breeding season. They're normally dull in color, but when it's time to get "busy" a vibrant red brushstroke appears on a male's head to impress prospective females. 🖌 Painted terrapins are critically endangered and you're looking at the first successful hatchling at our Reptile House.
