Yesterday was a good day for #pangolin conservation. Nations voted to increase protections for these critically endangered animals. Pangolins, or scaly anteaters, are covered with overlapping scales made of keratin, the same protein that forms human hair and finger nails. Both Asian and African pangolin species are threatened by international trafficking, primarily for use of their scales in traditional medicine and as a luxury food.
