Sometimes, that ‘bleh’ feeling, that listless, scrambled, anxious energy, can be from this:
It’s been too long since you were fully immersed in something.
If you’ve spent a few days with fractured attention, unsure of your aims, doubting yourself, changing tasks frequently. If you have the feeling you’re a little scared to sit with yourself because it’s all just mind-chaos right now, so you keep reaching for the next distraction. If your breath feels shallow, your chest tight, if your confidence in yourself is kind of flatlining and you’re looking to everyone else for a sense of fortification.
Ask yourself: when was the last time you fully focused on something? All-in, whole-body, flow state kind of stuff.
That’s what you need to do. Maybe you need to turn your phone off for a moment and really drop into a task at work for a while, and get stuff done in a steady, rhythmic way. Maybe you need to get on a board and go for a surf, feel that smack of salt water on your face, or a skate...
