They told us to select an occupation, a title, and told us we would build the rest of our lives around that Most of us hadn’t even spent one day experiencing what that occupation was truly like on a day to day basis We just chose a word. Journalist. Nurse. Teacher. Marine Biologist. With no understanding what our life would truly feel like. The discussion of sex and periods was a series of brief, technical, awkward classes. They certainly never told us about pleasure, or about abusive dynamics in relationships to look out for. There are so many things they never taught us. And that is why, with our workshops, we’re reopening these conversations to get to the real stuff. The stuff we should’ve known before we signed on the dotted lines. Pleasure. Relationships.
