#OTD in 1930, a Memphis legend, educator, and civil rights trailblazer was born, Ms. Velma Lois Jones! She shaped generations as the longest serving president of both the Memphis and Tennessee Education Associations and as the first woman to lead the NAACP’s Memphis Branch. Her leadership continues to open doors for countless teachers and students, championing fairness in education and strengthening the role of Black women in advocacy.
