Huge win for our seabirds! All Scottish waters and the English North Sea are now CLOSED to industrial sandeel trawling. That means more fish for seabird beaks. After more than 25 years of campaigning, we're delighted ukgovofficial and scotgov have put these closures in place. We want this to be one win of many. Stronger protections are needed, including addressing the thousands of seabirds accidentally caught in in fishing nets and lines every year.
