It's #WorldCurlewDay, a chance to celebrate these beautiful birds, and to shout about the problems they face. Curlews, with their distinctive beaks and 'bubbling' calls, are in sharp decline. Their numbers are falling across the country, while their breeding range is shrinking, too. Country-level extinctions are now a possibility. We believe the Curlew should be the UK's highest conservation priority bird species, with a recovery programme essential.
