Have you ever heard of a grouse courtship display, also otherwise known as a ‘lekking’? The cocks compete with each other for best display sites within the lek, to attract hens. Black grouse leks can mostly be found on farmland and moorland with nearby forestry or scattered trees. However, grouse populations are fast disappearing and the lek is essential to the birds’ breeding success, but are easily disturbed.
