📣It's official, we have bee-eater chicks!📣 Although they haven't ventured onto the live camera just yet (watch it at the link in our bio!) the wardens have been watching closely and seen an upping of food being brought to one of the nest holes.
Sadly, while it's great news for the birds, we can't ignore this stark reminder of our overheating planet.
🌍 Bee-eaters are a species found commonly in the southern Mediterranean and northern Africa. Like canaries down the coal mine, their presence in the UK is an early warning of what climate change has in store for us all.
🔥 Searing temperatures, as experienced in the UK this week, will become normal if action isn’t taken to curb greenhouse gas emissions. So as we wish these birds the best, we also urge the next PM to honour the commitment to reach net zero by 2045 & prioritise nature’s recovery.
