250 Years of Naval History ⚓️ In April 1814, USS Constitution—already legendary for her victories—was trapped in Boston Harbor by a relentless British blockade. The Royal Navy had sworn to capture her, stationing powerful frigates offshore to cage “Old Ironsides” once and for all. When Constitution attempted to break free, she was pursued by HMS Junon and HMS Tenedos, both determined to bring her down. Outgunned and cut off from the open sea, she raced north along the coast, hunted and cornered. Her salvation came at Marblehead, where local pilots guided her through narrow, rock-strewn channels into the safety of their harbor. The British, unfamiliar with the treacherous waters, broke off the chase. What could have ended in capture became one of Constitution’s most daring escapes. Seamanship, local loyalty, and unshakable discipline kept her free—ensuring that America’s fight for independence at sea carried on. ⚓🇺🇸 #OldIronsides #WarOf1812 #EscapeToMarblehead #NavalHistory #Amer...
