Good news alert 🚨 We welcome the news today from @defrauk that they are recommending very little industrial sandeel fishing should take place in UK waters this year! The sandeel is a small fish critical to the healthy function of our marine ecosystems and is a critical food source for some of our most threatened seabirds and other marine wildlife 🌊💙 While the lack of fishing is good news this year, we’d like to see DEFRA taking steps to end industrialised fishing for sandeels in the UK more permanently for the sake of sandeels and the many species that depend on them 🐠🦅 #Sandeel #MarineEcosystem #Puffins #MarineWildlife #SeaLife #UKBirds #RedListSpecies #Conservation
