🐝🚨 Bad news for bees 🚨🐝 The government has chosen to put bees at risk again by allowing for Neonicotinoids, a banned bee-harming pesticide, to be used by sugar beet farmers in England. In making the decision, ministers went against explicit advice from their own scientific advisors. In November 2021, the Environment Bill was passed by parliament and an amendment to limit the harm done to pollinators by pesticides was put forward by the Lords. Over 60,000 people signed a petition calling on the Government to accept the revision, but it was unsuccessful. This isn't good enough. Bees and other pollinators need better protection in law.
