It's #HenHarrierDay (again! We won't complain 💙), so what more could you ask for than footage of some gorgeous chicks, with some tagging education thrown in too?? In July our investigations team joined @nationaltrust, @peakdistrictnt and @oliviablake_mp to satellite-tag a chick at the only hen harrier nest in the Peak District. Olivia Blake is the MP for Sheffield Hallam and RSPB Hen Harrier Species Champion. In the summer of 2021, she watched a young hen harrier chick being fitted with a satellite tag at its nest in the Peak District. The nest, on National Trust land, was the only one in the whole of the National Park that year. Hen harriers are being prevented from expanding their population due to illegal killing, and satellite tagging is helping shine a light on the lives of these rare birds after they fledge.
