The Tristan community’s decision creates a Marine Protection Zone encompassing almost 700,000 sq km of its waters, the largest in the Atlantic. The natgeopristineseas team conducted an expedition to the archipelago in 2017 in partnership with the Government of Tristan da Cunha and the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds to survey the health of the area’s marine environment.
