So! edfenergy have just submitted plans for a new nuclear power plant next to our reserve at RSPB Minsmere. We #LoveMinsmere, and want to help you understand why we think it must not go ahead. RSPB Minsmere is an important wildlife haven; it holds the protection of SSSI, SAC, SPA and Ramsar Site conservation statuses. Its habitats include four national conservation priorities: reedbeds, lowland wet grassland, shingle vegetation and lowland heath. More than 6000 different animals, plants and fungi have been recorded at Minsmere – more than on any other RSPB reserve, and amongst the highest of any nature reserve in the UK. It hosts a range of wildlife, including important populations of bitterns, marsh harriers and avocets! And Minsmere is home to more than birds - otters, water voles, kingfishers, specialist plants, & rare dragonflies can be found in the wetlands.
