We love to see Latinas making history in sports, and that’s what Mexican professional tennis player Renata Zarazúa just did at the 2025 U.S. Open. The 27-year-old Mexicana, who is ranked No. 82 in the world, beat American tennis player and reigning Australian Open champion Madison Keys, ranked No. 6. She is now the first Mexican woman to ever defeat a top-10 opponent in over three decades. The last time a Mexican woman achieved this feat was at the 1995 Australian Open when Angélica Gavaldón defeated No. 3 ranked player Jana Novotná. “Coming into the match, I was like… almost crying because I was really nervous, but I think the crowd made it so chill for me, so I was loosening up,” Zarazúa told the U.S. Open team. “I’m just very happy. I think it hasn’t really kicked in yet. I guess I’m just really excited.” #RenataZarazúa #RenataZarazua #Mexicana #Mexico #USOpen #MadisonKeys #MexicanHistory #HistoryMade #MexicanTennisPlayer #MexicanAthlete #AtletaMexicana #ArribaLaMexicana #LatinaP...
