"Seeking a less conventional image of black grouse I set out to capture males fighting at their lek site from a low level hide that would allow me to include the dramatic backdrop of Lochnagar in it’s winter cloak. Sneaking into the hide in the dark, I Iay on the frozen ground for two hours before there was sufficient light to begin taking pictures. Finally these two males moved into the perfect position and exploded into frenetic combat.
