This week at Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary in Oakland, Dr. King’s legacy was honored in a powerful, joyful way as students, families, and community leaders came together with Martin Luther King III, Arndrea Waters King, Eat. Learn. Play., and Realize the Dream for a day rooted in service and unity. At a vibrant student assembly—featuring unforgettable youth performances—Stephen and Ayesha Curry were named Chief Dream Ambassadors of realizethedreammovement and announced eatlearnplay’s incredible pledge: 100,000 volunteer hours dedicated to Oakland’s youth and neighborhoods. After the assembly, students and volunteers teamed up with the Currys and Kings for hands-on service—distributing books and snacks, painting murals, and creating play spaces that will soon transform the campus as part of our 21st schoolyard build.
