Willy Chavarria made a powerful statement on the treatment of migrants deported from the U.S. at his Spring/Summer 2026 runway show at Paris Fashion Week on Friday. The 58-year-old Chicano designer opened his show, titled “HURON” after his hometown, with 35 male models with shaved heads who, while wearing oversized white t-shirts and shorts, walked in a single file line onto the runway and kneeled one by one with their heads down and hands behind their backs.
“The opening piece was to contrast against the beauty of the people that are actually being kidnapped and shipped away, broken away from their families. The chaos that we’re seeing right now,” Chavarria said in an interview with Vogue.
