Colombian-Dominican singer Nezza recently took a stand for Los Angeles’ Latiné community by singing “El Pendón Estrellado,” the Spanish-language version of “The Star-Spangled Banner,” at a Dodgers game despite being told not to by team officials. In a series of Tiktok videos, the bilingual star shared her experience and explained that she chose to sing in Spanish to express solidarity with those affected by the recent ICE raids.
“My parents are immigrants, and they’ve been citizens my whole life,” Nezza said in a TIktok video. “I just can’t imagine them being ripped away from me. Even at this age, let alone a little kid; like what are we doing?”
